LECTURES
Fig.1.1.1 Introduction to Photoshop 2
This week, we're introduced to Photoshop 2 with the Lasso Tool, Pen Tool
and Layering. Then, Mr. Fauzi let us play The Bezier Game for
practice. We also started to do a digital collage using the image that was provided in Google Classroom. We need to use Adobe Photoshop to do three compositions and use the tools that are taught.
- Selection, Layering
- Tool Box
- Marquee Selection Tools
- Lasso Tool
- Pen Tool

PROJECT 1B: DIGITAL COLLAGE
Instruction:
1. Download all of the images here to your
computer:
2. Follow this tutorial demo as reference to create your
digital collage:
3. Create 3 different composition digital collages from the
images that you've downloaded.
4. Create A4 canvas size (vertical) on Photoshop and start
to do the compositions.
5. Take 3 photo of your digital collage compositions and
insert it on the section below.
6. Submit (turn in) this file in Google Classroom.

Fig.1.1.8 Composition #1 - "Megalophobia"/ (Week 4, 14/10/2024) |
This is my first composition of digital collage, I've used the images
of 'texture_liquid, texture_2, people, people_walking, fish_2,
building_2' for this composition. I came up with the idea of
'megalophobia', which is a fear of large objects. The fish and the
people who came out the door were extremely huge, presenting an
unrealistic scene.
It's also my first time using Adobe Photoshop, the tools it's quite
similar to Illustrator; but also quite challenging when first time
using it. I keep succeed and failed to use the pen tool when cutting
out the part of images I wanted, sometime when I paste it, it appears
the shape with filled but not the image that I selected. Luckily, I
was able to figure out how to do it by watching the tutorial and keep
practicing.

Fig.1.1.9 Composition #2 - "Welcome to Lilliput" / (Week 4, 15/10/2024) |
The second composition I came up with the idea "Lilliput"; people
are being transported from one space to another and shrunken by the
"Dokodemo door," which is inspired by the Doraemon anime, and
appears on top of the typewriter. The typewriter is the main
element, and there was a black hole and a claw-like figure
stretching out through the typewriter. The background behind was
filled with dynamic black and white streaks, presenting a sense of
being sucked away and chaos. The table I used the image
(texture_grunge) , which has a rusty texture, and there are
fragments on the table, or it also looks like broken glass shards.
Overall, I wanted to present dreamlike, horror, and surreal
imagery.

| Fig.1.1.10 Composition #3 - "Angry Mom" / (Week 4, 15/10/2024) |
The last collage presents a surreal and playful scene. I came up with an idea that captures the moment of a mother being angry at her son for coming home late after playing outside, just like our daily lives. The central figure is the mother without a human head, replaced by a large fish head with an angry emotion, nagging to his son, and her son is hurrying to the elevator, trying to escape from his mom. I think it's very hilarious, like a common family scenario.
PROJECT 1B: FINAL DIGITAL COLLAGE
This is the final best version outcome, "Welcome to
Lilliput". It's a dreamlike, horror, and surreal scenario. I've learned
to use the tools in Adobe Photoshop like lasso tools,
quick selection, pen tool, layers, and so on. Also,
this project deepened my understanding of composition,
creativity, and the technique of using
Photoshop.
Feedback:
Today (21/10/2024), Mr. Fauzi gave us feedback and
helped us choose the best version from our three
compositions, and my final outcome was composition #2.
Mr. Fauzi commented that my composition did well,
good practice, and it seems I had a lot of fun with
composition #3.

REFLECTION
Experience:
In this digital collage project, I worked with Adobe Photoshop, which has
the ability to manipulate images in various way, such as resizing,
rotating, and recoloring. Overall, I think this is fun because digital
collage allowed me to try different arrangements without fear of making
irreversible changes.
Observation:
Through this project, I observed how seamless it is to make quick edits,
undo mistakes, and refine my design. Moreover, the potential to create
layered composition is almost limitless, as I'm not constrained by
physical resources.
Findings:
I learned a lot of technical skills in Photoshop, and using the tools to edit the image.
